The Ginka: A Naturally Modern Chair The name of this custom made modern chair derives from the geometry of Japanese Ginkgo leaves (Ginkgo Biloba). Organic and utterly modern, the Ginka repurposes the shapes and details of one of nature’s most distinctive plants into an experience of comfort and cutting-edge design. The Ginka Chair was created in cooperation with designer Sylwia Juchimowicz. Natural Geometry Three triangle shapes, radially arranged, recall the shape of a Gingko leaf. By combining three separate curved surfaces into one seat design, the chair provides natural ergonomic support. Supported in minimalist fashion by a tube-like frame tube construction, the chair remains light and portable. Thoughtful design features, including a handle on the back of the chair, support this design philosophy. In other words, it will become the centerpiece of impromptu seating arrangements, or your favorite chair to fall into with a good book. Because of the simple organic design, this modern chair is ultra-compatible with other styles of furniture. Imagine it as a modern commentary on your favorite Art Nouveau table, for instance, or as natural response to the industrial qualities of Bauhaus and Mid-Century Modern styles.
