A bow front bed canopy of French design made in the second half of the nineteenth century in France or possibly Belgium. It has a pine carcase veneered in Mahogany, that has been hand polished with a wax finish. A shaped and moulded base with a brass Ormolu mount fixed to the centre of the bow front. Good, exactly as would be expected of a 19th century canopy that looks to have had only one set of drapes in one house from new. It has only been upholstered once from new as can be seen from the tack marks around the upholstery.
