Material: Ebonised Period: George III AntiquesOrigin: EnglishPeriod: George III Provenance: Unknown Date: c.1780-1810 Height: 9.25 Mirror Diameter: 3.5 (the plate) The rare and totally original Georgian period ebonised hand or dressing table mirror with circular reeded frame and turned handle, survives from the last quarter of eighteenth century England. The condition is immaculate, there is wear to the ebonised finish as one would expect, particularly to the tactile handle and the mirror plate has a little spotting commensurate with age. There is a small hook to the top so that the mirror can be hung from the wall. Sometimes originally part of a toilet service, this example is almost certainly a stand-a-lone piece. . These original hand mirrors from the 18th century are incredibly rare now. In fact any hand mirror from the Georgian period is a rare find for obvious reasons with the vast majority of hand mirrors are from the late Victorian and 20th century periods.
