The curved glass allowed servants to keep an eye on the proceedings in the dining room while keeping a respectful distance, thus its name. The optional decorative rim balls reflect British naval victories, and the black slip was commonly added in 1805 on the death of Nelson, or other national figure. This mirror is available with a choice of flat glass, or slumped (fish-eye) glass. The convex glass will help to bounce natural light into the room and makes for a really dramatic piece of decoration. Slumping glass to form a fish eye has become a rare art in England, and so fish-eye glass is POA.
