A Louis XV fauteuil ‘À la Reine’ of elegant proportions, in beech and painted off-white with gilt highlights, the shaped upholstered backrest with carved gilt scroll to the top, and with open arms with upholstered rests and ends with scrolled decoration to a generous seat with a shaped seat rail with carved central motif, raised on cabriole supports. French, circa 1760. Currently upholstered in a narrow striped crimson and off-white satin fabric. Condition: Overall very good, the chair is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs, it is solid and robust and comfortable to sit in. The paint and gilding are both in very good condition with little apparent loss. The fabric is in reasonable condition with no wear or holes, however it does have some marks on it, consistent with age. Dimensions: Height = 90 cm (35.5”) Width = 61 cm (24”) Depth = 48 cm (19”)
