A fine late 19th century French carriage clock, in a Chinese style gilt brass case, the handle with faux bamboo crossbar over a pagoda top with bold dentilled border and with bevelled viewing glass to the English lever escapement, with simulated bamboo pillars on a stepped plinth base and bevelled glass plates around a white enamel 2” dial with Roman numerals and outer minute marker with Arabic numbers at five minute intervals, Breguet hands and with an eight day two train movement striking the hours and half hours on a gong with a repeating function. French, made for the English market, circa 1880. Supplied with a key. Condition: Extremely good, the case is in excellent condition with the gilding almost intact, the glass plates are all in good condition, the dial is in very good condition with very faint marks where the hour hand has come into contact between 1 and 6, the movement has been fully serviced and overhauled and is in full working order.
