A Louis Philippe overmantel mirror, the gilt and gesso arched frame with rounded moulding and richly carved crest and with a scroll and shell inner border around an old plate. French, circa 1840. Condition: Overall very good, the mirror is in very good condition with no weakness to the frame, there are a couple of small losses to the lower corners of the frame, the plate is probably the original, the back has been replaced at some point but not recently, the gilding is rubbed leaving traces of the red palette beneath and the gesso. Overall the mirror has a very striking appearance and elegant proportions, with a lovely period feel to it. Dimensions: Height = 140 cm (55”) Width = 89 cm (35”)
