A mid 19th century mantel clock in gilt bronze, the case with a covered vase finial in gilt bronze and porcelain, supported by two putti, over a break-arch top with a porcelain dial in blue and gold with putti to the centre and with Roman numerals in individual white panels with gold hands, and with a similar porcelain panel below and to the sides decorated with neoclassical figures and motifs, all within a richly cast Baroque style bronze case raised on swagged feet under a re-entrant plinth, and with an eight day two-train movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell. French, circa 1870. Condition: Excellent, the clock is in very good condition with no damage or losses, the panels are all present with no cracks, the case is in excellent condition, the movement has been fully serviced and overhauled and is in excellent working order. Overall the clock has a lovely appearance with pleasing proportions and the bell sounds bright and clear. Dimensions: Height = 36 cm (14”) Width = 23 cm (9”) Depth = 14 cm (5.5”)
